CHRISTUS Medical Group Quality Report
Hospitalists
A hospitalist is a physician whose primary focus is the general medical care of hospitalized patients. Generally, primary care physicians (“family doctors”) can only spend a limited amount of time with their patients in the hospital because they usually need to attend to other patients in their offices, as well. Because hospitalists care for only patients in the hospital, they are generally able to spend more time with each patient and oversee their care more effectively.
